The department tries to impart knowledge to the students by having a weekly distributed program of theory classes, seminars, clinical discussions and demonstrations apart from conducting separate tutorials for slow learners. The department ensures integrated teaching and extended academic activities to the postgraduate trainees also. The atmosphere is student friendly and at the same time is motivating to strive hard to become competent oral diagnosticians. The students are encouraged to publish their academic work and interesting cases of the Department in the National and International journals, thus making our department a known entity in the academic arena.

Oral Medicine of our college is a well equipped department with 14 dental chairs, intraoral and extraoral radiography units. The department possesses advanced digital imaging systems including RVG , Digital Panoramic extra oral machine and also therapeutic Ultrasound, TENS.

We screen around 3500 to 4000 patients per month and refer the patients to various other speciality departments concerning their dental problems and also provide medical treatment to the needy.

• Management of patients with Orofacial pain and Temporomandibular disorders.
• Extensive treatment (including Laser Treatment) and management of mucocutaneous diseases and Potentially malignant disorders like lichen planus, Leukoplakia, Oral Submucous Fibrosis.
• Medical management of complications of cancer treatment.
• Patient counselling and medical management of disorders of oral cavity related to psychosomatic diseases and salivary gland disorders.
• Intraoral radiography includes IOPA, Bitewing, Occlusal views.
• Extraoral radiography has OPG, Cephalogram, all extraoral views of the skull.
• Specialized radiographic techniques for TMJ like Transcranial, Trans Orbital, Trans Pharyngeal, Contrast radiography, Sialography for salivary gland pathologies.
• OPG and CBCT Interpretation.
• Counselling and Deaddiction services provided to tobacco habituated individuals through TCC ( Tobacco Cessation Center ) attached to our department.
